As the miata gets more and more modified, we need to be able to monitor more and more engine vitals. We’re going to install a digital dash in the miata so we can keep an eye on EVERYTHING, right from the dash! Will it look good or will the clean aesthetics of the dash be ruined? Let’s find out!

Wait the stock ecu in my beater from 1999 updates PIDS twice as fast and all I bought was a $5 phone mount. It jumped 2300rpm in one frame with a 27% throttle blip?!?! Call me crazy but it feels like it's from the early 2000's, so outdated. No touchscreen and has its own controller keyboard lmao.

Not going to lie, looks like a pretty low end unit out of the box and performs like one too. The flames don't help it's case either IMO. It's a rad 'affordable' unit but I think the refresh rate is a bit of a turn off to anyone seriously looking at a digital dash. Those flames though... Sheesh lol.

There's an easier and cheaper way to do this... Get a bluetooth or wifi OBDII reader. Connect it to your iPad or iPhone. Download an OBD app like OBD Fusion or Torque Pro. These apps place whatever dials or gauges you want on your iPad. With the info taken from the OBDII port. You can even read fault codes and reset the check engine light while you're at it.

Why didn’t you put in a quick release for your steering wheel? Not only would that aid in the access when you’re installing things like this but that car is so small it actually would serve a purpose in the event of an emergency

Aftermarket/customizable digital gauge clusters are pretty cool, IMO. However, what I really don't dig are when a factory installs an OEM digital gauge cluster that tries to imitate the appearance of traditional analogue gauges... like what's the point? It looks like a PlayStation 2 game.

I do not want any touch screens to my car. One of the reasons I drive what I drive is that it has very good, traditional ergonomic controls and no screens that distract when you drive or require you to go through menus. Smartphones and tablets are pretty much the only things where touchscreens are a good choice.

Not sure what's with that sample rate, I don't know Megasquirt comms. Currently the ultimate is a Motec 1212 dash with Display Creator. Its quite nice, but godly expensive.

4:50 you can see the connections ports, it is a Raspberry Pi 4 with what looks like a pi hut 12-inch screen. guessing a few other off-the-shelf parts plugged into the 40 pin I\O. Crazy.

The response of the tach is wayyyyyy too slow. Id prefer this on the dash or replace the radio so i can check oil/air/fuel etc when i need, but have a proper instrument cluster.

A minor criticism for the company who created the cluster will be the revving gauge. Honda S2000 has more fluidic rev gauge and it was created way back than this one. Why does this one lack that fluidity?
